The very wealthy flaunted their newly extravagant lifestyles, viewing their riches — a result of that century’s great social and technological changes — as proof that the U.S. was on the right track. Meanwhile, others in the city struggled to get by.

BB King’s music had a deep impact on the lives of people.  He popularized the blues which is an expression of people angst and frustrations.  That is the reason why people can relate with his music.  His blending of traditional blues and rock would later influence other talented musicians like Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and U2 among others.  He brought the blues to a wider audience and up until his death still goes on tour to spread the gospel of the blues.
