Vera, Mrs. Sappleton`s niece, let Mr. Nuttel know about the loss of the family Sappleton that happened three years ago. Namely, Mr. Sappleton, and two young brothers went for a hunt, they exited the house through the window, but since heavy rains marked that period, they, unfortunately, got drown in a quagmire.

All of this, as it turned out, was just a product of Vera`s imagination, and men got back home from the hunt that very evening, after leaving the house that morning.
