Enzymes, by speeding up biological reactions, ensure that all necessary activities in a cell can take place simultaneously and prevent one particular activity from overtaking the entire cell or organism. This is possible because enzymes allow chemicals to react more specifically with only certain substances rather than reacting indiscriminately with any number of different substances within cells.

The most famous example of this enzyme effect is when stomach acid reacts with pepsin that turns food into a liquid. The body then uses this liquid for absorption through the intestines where nutrients are then used throughout the body. It's important for people to have enough enzymes in order to digest their food fully however if
