During 14th and 15th century, France and England had many disputes over which these two empires often went through struggle which is known as Hundred Years war. This struggle continued for more than 100 years involving many generations of both the empires.

One of the major reasons of the dispute between them was that Edward III was dissatisfied with the non-fulfillment of pledge by Philip VI for restoration of Guyenne. This war was started with the French occupation of Guyenne and later on many issues cropped up between these two empires.
