Their points of view. Artists will go far to prove their points by using symbolism, poetry, all that good stuff. Like this for Example: you see an overly exaggerated crow in a small cage. The artist is conveying he/she is stuck in a boring life with a lot of rules (An edgy dude would make something like that). one point perspective is when the lines begin to taper and get smaller in the background of the drawing/painting. Da Vinci did this by using a person as the main focus and had the background behind them get smaller and smaller as the landscape got further away
Essentially because the aperture (hole) is so small it bends the light a manner that inverts the image. it is not just upside down but it is also reversed image
