An octave consists of eight lines - in this example, it ends with <em>Are now a little dust, all feeling gone; </em>and the sestet (containing six lines) begins with <em>And yet I live, grief and disdain to me. </em>
As you can see, the shift in ideas is quite obvious here - in the octave, the poem celebrated the woman's beauty, but in the sestet, we can see that she is gone and that he cannot get over that loss.</span>
