According to Sternberg, the type of love Rumi and Iram are experiencing at this time is empty love, which is characterized by a lack of passion and intimacy.

The American psychologist defined the triangular theory of love, referring to the manifestation in individuals according to three qualities:

  • Passion
  • Intimacy
  • Commitment

In empty love, intimacy and passion are relatively weak, due to the short relationship and little knowledge between them, common in an arranged marriage.

In this type of love, Rumi and Iram have only the characteristic of commitment when they enter into marriage, and they do not yet have the passion and intimacy, but these two qualities can emerge over time and their type of love also changes.
