does take it with a grain of salt mean?

A- Alvin should try hard to get on Catherine's good side.
B- Alvin should be worried that Catherine it's not treating him kindly

I your writing draft, you could provide some sort of outline that create a space for your reader's feedback whether it's your editor or your friends and families
