In the ministers black veil Hawthorne uses the townspeople to symbolize the faults he sees in many people. Cite three faults sym
exis [7]

Answer:

Hooper's veil is a clear sign that he is trying to make up for, or atone for, his sin. Hooper seems to imply that the veil is a symbol for all sin, or for the idea that we sin, itself. It is not just a sin or two of one person; all of humanity is a sinner. Hooper is a sinner too; he wants to show that he is not prideful, but that he is hiding his face. Now, in all reality, he is more visible due to the black veil. Did Hooper wear the veil to express his guilt at committing adultry? Did Hooper wear the veil to let others know that we are all sinners and that we cannot judge others - or we will be judged?

The veil may in be a symbol of a shadow that man tries to hide his sins behind, and as he quotes, "the saddest of all prisons is a person's own heart". You may be able to hide all the sin from others, but you cannot ever hide it from yourself. He saw himself in a mirror and did not like what he saw.

Mkey [24]

Shelley's novel, Frankenstein: or, the Modern Prometheus (1818), is a combination of Gothic horror story and science fiction. The book tells the story of Victor Frankenstein, a Swiss student of natural science who creates an artificial man from pieces of corpses and brings his creature to life.

Please I really sure do need the help on this
e-lub [12.9K]

Let's examine the options.

a) the Greeks, unlike the Cyclops, value meeting each other

This is the indirect sense we get from the passage, based on the way the Greeks express disdain toward the Cyclops for not meeting each other. The Greeks say the "Cyclopes have...no meeting, no consultation or old tribal ways" after calling them "giants, louts, without a law to bless them" and saying they live in ignorance.

b) the Greeks shun meetings and consultation

From the way the passage condemns the Cyclops for having "no muster and no meeting, no consultation...", we can tell the Greeks shun not having meetings and consultation. This option is wrong.

c) the Greeks, unlike Cyclops, live alone in caves

Based on the text - "Cyclopes have no muster and no meeting,...each one dwells in his own mountain cave" - Cyclops, not Greeks, are the ones living in caves. This option is wrong.

d) the Cyclops have taught the Greeks the value of society

We get the sense the Cyclops themselves don't know the value of society - in fact, they shut the world out ("each one dwells in his own mountain cave"). They are called ignorant louts "indifferent to what others do". This option is wrong.

Read this excerpt from the article "Clemente's Impact Wanes in Puerto Rico 40 Years after His Death."
yanalaym [24]

Answer: Three months before, we had been riveted by Clemente's pursuit of his 3,000th hit, a feat he accomplished on the last weekend of the 1972 season with the Pittsburgh Pirates, highlighting why his death still impacted Puerto Rico would be describing his Career when winning award winners as this helped improved the decade to live up and see him as more than an average Major league baseball champion, maybe not average but still- to win an award like that would put you down as important and memorable.
