"on the first day of"
That's the only answer that comes to mind.. I'm not entirely sure if there's more to the question
Hi there!
Great question!
To make paragraphs properly, they consist of many things.
For starters, paragraphs are at least 5 and 6 sentences long, but if the sentences are short, the paragraphs can reach up to 10 sentences!
Paragraphs aren't very short and aren't really long either -
Paragraphs have complete sentences. You'd capitalize the first word of each sentence, like I'm doing. You shouldn't abbreviate words into shorter letters in a paragraph. You should always correctly punctuate the end of every sentence, too. Like, you know how in stories the paragraphs are correctly capitalized and punctuated. If you were writing, we'll say, an essay for school, you'd do the same.
When writing paragraphs, don't write like you're texting someone on the phone! Write as if you're writing a really long story...
Hope this helps! :)
Hi there!
In the poem “Young”, Anne Sexton uses hyperbole when she writes “and probably a million leaves” and “A thousand doors ago”. When she uses the last statement, she uses an extreme exaggeration to explain what time in her life she is talking about.
She uses personification when she writes “clover wrinkling over me”, “the wise stars bedding over me”, and “yellow heat running out”. By using personification, giving human characteristics to non-humans, she writes "the wise stars bedding over me" to explain that she is outside at night, with the stars above her.
When Sexton writes "The boards on the house were smooth and white as wax", she uses imagery, concrete or abstract images that appeal to the scenes, to show that the boards on the house were smooth.
Finally, Sexton uses a simile when she says "white as wax" which means she used to like or as to compare two subjects. With this line, she compares the colour white and wax to help explain further what colour the house was.
Hope it helps!
Answer:
Distraction as a way of survival
Explanation:
The narrator speaks about how difficult is to keep on living watching all the survivors around her. Because she's seen death, but what strikes her completely is the living, so she says her "one saving grace is distraction", so she focuses on colors, and other details so as not to think about the destruction that suffocates her.
1 - transitioning from selfishness to responsibility
2 - caring for yourself and others
