In 1965, the international community adopted a convention by which they committed to eliminate all forms of racial discrimination. The Convention is now nearing universal ratification. Yet still, all around the world too many suffer from the injustice and stigma that racism brings.

No country can claim to be free of racism, racism is a global concern, and tackling it requires a universal effort.We all have the right to be treated equally, regardless of our race, ethnicity, nationality, class, caste, religion, belief, sex, gender, language, sexual orientation, gender identity, sex characteristics, age, health or other status. Yet all too often we hear heartbreaking stories of people who suffer cruelty simply for belonging to a “different” group from those in positions of privilege or power.
