Each batch of Passionana should have 0.18 pounds of bananas and 99.82 pounds of passion fruit.

Since at Colin and Rosa's Smoothie Extravaganza, they create their most famous smoothie called Passionana, and in order to create this smoothie, they mix two ingredients: Passion fruit which costs $ 3.75 per pound and bananas which costs $ 54.50 per pound, and each mixture weighs twenty pounds and is worth $ 4.20 per pound, to determine how much of each ingredient must be in each batch of Passionana the following calculation must be performed:

  • 54.5 x 0.05 + 3.75 x 0.95 = 6.28
  • 54.5 x 0.01 + 3.75 x 0.99 = 4.25
  • 54.5 x 0.0075 + 3.75 x 0.9925 = 4.13
  • 54.5 x 0.009 + 3.75 x 0.991 = 4.20
  • 20 x 0.009 = 0.18
  • 20 - 0.18 = 19.82

Therefore, each batch of Passionana should have 0.18 pounds of bananas and 99.82 pounds of passion fruit.

Stephon has a square brick patio. He wants to reduce the width by 4 feet and increase the length by 4 feet.
alekssr [168]

Answer:  The expressions for the length and width of the new patio are

\ell=x+4,~~w=x-4.

And the area of the new patio is 384 sq. feet.

Step-by-step explanation:  Given that Stephen has a square brick patio. He wants to reduce the width by 4 feet and increase the length by 4 feet.

The length of one side of the square patio is represented by x.

We are to write the expressions for the length and width of the new patio and then to find the area of the new patio if the original patio measures 20 feet by 20 feet.

Since Stephen wants to reduce width of the patio by 4 feet, so the width of the new patio will be

w=(x-4)~\textup{feet}.

The length of the patio is increased by 4 feet, so the length of the new patio will be

\ell=(x+4)~\textup{feet}.

Now, if the original patio measures 20 feet by 20 feet, then we must have

w=x-4=20-4=16~\textup{feet}

and

\ell=x+4=20+4=24~\textup{feet}.

Therefore, the area of the new patio is given by

A_n=\ell \times w=24\times16=384~\textup{sq. feet}.

Thus, the expressions for the length and width of the new patio are

\ell=x+4,~~w=x-4.

And the area of the new patio is 384 sq. feet.

Jenny buys 22 pens that cost $1.15 each and 15 markers that cost $2.05 each. How much did Jenny spend?
kykrilka [37]

You would do for pens

22 x 1.15 =25.30

And for markets

15 x 2.05 = 30.75

And since you are trying to find how much he spent in all you would add the two sums

25.30 + 30.75 = 56.05
