As a result of the issues Eisenhower presented, the following happened:

  • The passage of the National Defense Education Act
  • The creation of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)

<h3>The Cold War and the Eisenhower Administration</h3>
  • Eisenhower was worried that the U.S. was lagging behind in the space race as the Soviets had launched a satellite into outer space.
  • Eisenhower wanted more education for Americans as he believed this would help in the fight against the Soviets.

As a result of these, the <u>National Defense Education Act</u> was enacted to increase education funding. NASA was also formed to compete with the Soviets in space.
