Answer: The U.S. Constitution brought together, in one remarkable document, ideas from many people and several existing documents, including the Articles of Confederation and Declaration of Independence. Those who made significant intellectual contributions to the Constitution are called the "Founding Fathers" of our country. The Founding Fathers, the framers of the Constitution, wanted to form a government that did not allow one person to have too much authority or control. With this in mind the framers wrote the Constitution to provide for a separation of powers, or three separate branches of government.
