During the First World War, the group of Americans who faced hostility were the German Americans.

During WWI:

 • Germany tried to get Mexico to attack America
 • America joined the war on the side of the British against the Germans

As a result of this, many Americans began to see German Americans as the enemy and this led to a lot of hostility towards them that sometimes became mob violence.

In conclusion, German Americans faced a lot of hostility during WW1.
