si te refieres a un vaso  de plastico en donde tomas agua normalmente se dice "cup" ejemplo "quiero un vaso de agua"- "i want a cup of water"

pero si te refieres a un vaso de vidrio, seria "a glass"

por ejemplo para decir  "quiero un vaso de vidro de agua" pero al la vez si quieres "quiero un vaso de agua" seria mejor dicho como "i want a glass of water" la palabra glass se refiere a vidrio por lo cual el termino "glass of water" es mejor dicho si te refieres a un vaso de vidrio.
