Dear Sarah,

Something terrible happened last week when I was walking home from school. I was crossing the street and talking on my phone at the same time. I was not paying attention because I was distracted by the conversation so I did not notice that the cross walk signal was off and cars were heading towards me. One red car had to turn quickly in the other direction to avoid crashing into me but it hit another car as it did. I rushed to see if the people in the cars were OK. No one seemed terribly hurt but there was a bit of blood coming out of the red car driver's head. I immediately called the ambulance and gave the victims some extra bandages that I had. Then I waited with them at the scene until the ambulance arrived. I have never felt more ashamed. I know now to be careful and be aware of the things around me. And I learned how important it is to value life as I have it now. I was so lucky to be safe after that accident, but you never know when your luck might suddenly run out.
