Answer:

The chocolate touch has the same story line as the famous myth of the King who what ever he touches turns into gold.  The young boy is very delighted when he gets a granted gift that whatever touches his lips instantly turns into chocolate, everything is good for the young boy (who is very fond of chocolate) until he grows sick of chocolate, eating it makes him sick to his stomach after awhile.  The little boy finally loses it when he goes to his band practice and his instrument turns into chocolate, he comes running home to tell his father, who then takes him to the doctor after learning there is no cure he runs back to the candy store and the curse is finally lifted.

The Chocolate Touch is the story of a boy who truly learns to think less about himself and more about others. He loves candy, particularly chocolate, and his parents beg him to eat more healthily, but he pays them no mind. One day, he purchases the most delicious piece of chocolate he has ever eaten from a mysterious candy shop, and the next day discovers that everything that touches his mouth turns to chocolate. At first he is thrilled, but then realizes that he cannot eat food, drink water, or even play his trumpet without it all turning to chocolate, and he begins to wish to turn back to normal. This wish grows more intense when he kisses his mother and turns her to chocolate. Horrified at what he has done to her, he rushes back to the candy store he bought that fateful chocolate from and selflessly offers to suffer from his “chocolate touch” forever in exchange for the restoration of his mother. The owner of the shop tells him that he has learned his lesson of selflessness and that his mother will be back to normal and his “chocolate touch” will be cured. When he leaves the shop, it disappears, perplexing him, but thoughts of his mother dominate his mind, and he hurries back to his house. Back at home, everything returns to normal, with one minor difference: our main character eats far more balanced meals than before and thinks more about others. In conclusion, in The Chocolate Touch, a boy learns an important lesson of selflessness after a strange ailment forces him to consider others more thoughtfully.

Answer:

Explanation:

Prayer"

"Holy Willie's Prayer," written in 1785, was printed in 1789 and reprinted in 1799. It was one of the poet's favorite verses, and he sent a copy to his friend, the convivial preacher John M'Math, who had requested it, along with a dedicatory poem titled "Epistle to the Rev. John M'Math" (published in 1808). To M'Math he sent his "Argument" as background information:Holy Willie was a rather oldish bachelor elder, in the parish of Mauchline, and much and justly famed for that polemical chattering which ends in tippling orthodoxy, and for that spiritualized bawdry which refines to liquorish devotion.

The real-life "Willie" whom Burns had in mind was William Fisher, a strict Presbyterian elder of the Mauchline church.

In his satire on religious fanaticism, Burns cleverly allows Willie to witness against himself. Willie's prayer, addressed to the deity of Calvinist doctrine, is really a self-serving plea to be forgiven for his own sins of sexual promiscuity (with Meg). Willie's God—more cruel than righteous—punishes sinners according to the doctrine of predestination of saints: Only a small number of "elect" souls, chosen before their births, will enter Heaven; the others, no matter their goodness, piety, or deeds, are condemned (predestined) to Hell. Willie exults in thoughts of revenge toward the miserable souls who are doomed to such eternal torment. The victims over whom he gloats are, from the reader's point of view, far less deserving of hellfire than Willie, a hypocrite, lecher, and demon of wrath.

In the "Epistle to the Rev. John M'Math," Burns defends his own simple creed as one superior to self-styled "holy" Willie's: "God knows, I'm no the thing I should be,/ Nor am I even the thing I could be,/ But twenty times I rather would be/ An atheist clean/ Than under gospel colors hid be,/ Just for a screen." His argument, he avers, is not against a benign doctrine of Christianity with its reach of forgiveness for sincerely repented sins, but against the hypocrites and scoundrels "even wi' holy robes,/ But hellish spirit!"
