Two weeks before I started high school, my mother announced we would be moving . . . to an entirely different city, halfway acro

ss the country! Needless to say, I was horrified. I had already arranged for a way to avoid taking the bus carpooling with my friend Kwe and had signed up for all my classes and extracurricular activities. I was certain this new school wouldn't have nearly as many options, and I knew there was no way I was going to be able to set up a new carpool with only a few days to meet new people.
I would be moving away. I wondered, what would this new city be like; what would the people be like; what would people do with their time? I just couldn't fathom a life outside of the one I knew and so I began to worry about whether I would be able to fit in.
These were the thoughts that haunted me for the next fourteen days, as we packed all our possessions and loaded them into the moving truck; as we drove two thousand miles across the country; as we settled into our new apartment; and then, as I stood staring at the massive glass doors that led into the new school I would begin the next day. But as I stood there, hesitant to take another step into this unknown world, I realized something: things are never as bad as I think they will be.

Select the correct answer.
Which sentence is best to add to the end of paragraph 2 to better support the idea that the author is worried about fitting in?
A.
How could my mother pack up our house and talk excitedly about our supposed new adventure, when all I could think about was how miserable I felt and how much I would miss my friends?
B.
I was certain everything would be better in the new city, but at the same time I felt like I was leaving my old friends behind to pursue newer and much more interesting things.
C.
Would the new kids enjoy doing the same things as my friends back home, or would I spend months in some sort of solitary confinement pursuing my own interests?
D.
I was excited to learn about the new city we would be moving to, including what types of activities were popular there and whether the other kids enjoyed the same things as people from my hometown.

Answer : c

Explanation : if you re read the last sentence of paragraph 2, it talks about them fitting in “I just couldn’t fathom a life outside of the one I knew and so I began to worry abt whether I would be able to fit in” and then in the answer c, it talks about the worries about how the other kids might not have the same interests as them or they might enjoy different things. While answer a could be an option, if doesn’t really talk about fitting in as much as their friends and how much they will miss them. Answer s b and and d only talk about how exciting it is and how much they are anticipating the experience which doesn’t go with the second paragraph as much as answer C does.

Which of the following quotes contains an adverb? Select all that apply. A. Along with many of the men where he worked, Dad join
enot [183]
ANSWER: A, B, C, D

A includes an adverb of place which is "in World War 1". "World War 1" describes the verb "fight" by stating its location and is thus an adverb of place

B includes an adverb which is "usually". "usually" describes the action/verb "held" by stating how often it was "held"

C, well you know, "carefully".

D should have an adverb too if there isn't any mistake in the sentence as it has the adverb "deeply" which describes the action/verb "worried" by stating the degree of her worrying for George. NOTE: "worried" in this context is NOT an adjective

E does not have an adverb. Although it may seem like "exactly" is the adverb, "exactly" is describing "eight inches long" which is an adjective, not a verb. Therefore, there should be no adverb because the verb in this sentence, which is "said", was not described in any way.

Therefore, the answers are A, B, C and D.
I'm sorry if my answers are wrong and hopefully you can tell me why if it is...

Hope this answer helped :) Also, people should be thinking everyday, or else nothing will have meaning and our daily lives won't be able to function normally. I hope you change your mindset about that, it's really fun to learn on weekends too :)

Who was half man half horse in Greek Mythology?
Alexeev081 [22]

Answer: Centaurs

Explanation:

Kinnaras, another half-man, half-horse mythical creature from Indian mythology, appeared in various ancient texts, arts, and sculptures from all around India. It is shown as a horse with the torso of a man where the horse's head would be, and is similar to a Greek centaur.

It comes from the ancient Greek word kentauros, which is sometimes considered to literally mean ‘bull-killer.’ According to the Greek mythology, there was a whole race of them, usually described as ferocious and with somewhat beastly and uncivilized appetites. Chiron was unique case: he was Cronus’ son, wise and just, and had taught a lot of Greek heroes like Achilles and Jason.
