Have the doctor greet you (e.g., Hi, good morning.).
Ask him/her how he/she is doing in one sentence (e.g., Good morning, doctor; how are you?).
Have your doctor reply in one sentence and ask how you are doing (e.g., I am well, thanks. How are you?).
Let your doctor know how you are doing, in one sentence/expression. (e.g., I am doing so-so).

Establezcamos un diálogo entre el doctor y yo, usaré mi nombre para este propósito:

DANIEL: Buenos días Doctor, ¿cómo está?

DR: Buen día Daniel, muy bien ¿y tú?

DANIEL: No muy bien Dr.

DR: Cuéntame ¿Qué síntomas presentas?

DANIEL: Últimamente me duele mucho la cabeza, y he tenido algunos mareos

DR: ¿Desde cuando no reemplazas tus lentes?

DANIEL: Tengo cuatro años con ellos.

DR: ¡Wow Daniel! Los lentes se cambian cada dos años.

DANIEL: Seguramente me hagan falta unos nuevos entonces.

DR: Déjame revisarlos con la máquina...

DANIEL: Gracias Dr.

En este diálogo, Daniel va al Dr porque presenta jaqueca y mareos. El Doctor cree que esto se deba a que sus lentes ya están vencidos. Por esa razón, el Doctor decide examinar los lentes de Daniel para ver si en efecto están vencidos.
