Answer:

"Aw, man!" , thought Ralph, "late again." He skipped the bath and threw on his Sunday clothes. "Just in time!" , he shouted, as he hurried down the stairs. His family was already halfway through breakfast. Pouring syrup on his cakes, Ralph was thinking hard. How could he get his hands on the car this morning? He promised Mary he would take her for a morning drive. Think Ralph! He suddenly had an idea. "Mama, why don't we go to church this morning?" "You know Pastor Brown has been asking about you." He added. Mrs. Wheeler put her fork down. "Ralph, " she replied, "That ain't such a bad idea. Only thing is, I got so much to do." Ralph did not lose hope. "Mama, " he had to butter her up, " Mahaily here can do whatever chores be needing done. You need to hear what the Lord wants you to do this week!" Ralph held his breath. Mrs. Wheeler thought about that . "Ralph," she said, "You are so right. I do need to hear what the Lord says." She pushed her chair back and went upstairs to fetch her coat. Ralph sighed with relief. "Yes!" he said outloud. His brother put down his fork and said, "Listen here prettyboy, I know what you're up to, soon as you drop off mama you come get me, I got me a date, too!"

How do absurd logic and formal language create a comic effect when describing an everyday object such as an umbrella
Ludmilka [50]

This is due to contrast in language. Describing a simple and everyday object such an umbrella is not supposed to need formal or logic language and that is, precisely, the comic effect of the comparison.
