The Enlightenment thinkers challenge the traditional idea of religion in order to improve the lives and freedom of ordinary people.

The Enlightenment Era marked the introduction of new ideas, rational thinking and philosophies in Europe.

Before this era, the church believers major thinking is based on traditional sources of knowledge such as from Church and superstition.

The Enlightenment era allows the uses of rational thinking as support for the existence of God.

Therefore, the religion traditional idea, most especially Christianity, did the  Enlightenment thinkers seeks to challenge in order to improve the lives and freedoms of ordinary people.
