Explain 3 aspects of Scandinavian culture that led to Viking exploration and how these led to
OlgaM077 [116]

Answer:They were the first to pioneer trade routes down the Volga and the Dnepr; they opened the routes to Constantinople and the Byzantine Empire; they traded with the Franks and the Baltic; and they even opened up the routes to the far east. The exact reasons for Vikings venturing out from their homeland are uncertain; some have suggested it was due to overpopulation of their homeland, but the earliest Vikings were looking for riches, not land. The Vikings originated from the area that became modern-day Denmark, Sweden, and Norway. They settled in England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Iceland, Greenland, North America, and parts of the European mainland, among other places.

Why did the practice of Islam take on unique features in parts of Africa?<br> pls help :C
GenaCL600 [577]

Answer:

After the conquest of North Africa by Muslim Arabs in the 7th century CE, Islamic culture spread throughout West Africa via merchants, traders, scholars, and missionaries, that is largely through peaceful means whereby African rulers either tolerated the religion or converted to it themselves. In this way, Islam expanded across and around the Sahara Desert. In addition, the religion arrived in East Africa when Arab traders crossed the Red Sea and, in a second wave, settled along the Swahili Coast. Military campaigns did occur from the 14th century CE against the Christian kingdoms of Nubia, for example, while in the 18th century CE the Muslim Fulani launched a holy war in the Lake Chad region. There were also sometimes violent resistance by supporters of traditional African beliefs such as animism and fetish, spirit and ancestor worship.

Early mapmakers faced many problems with making maps that they do not face today. Write a response explaining the problems and h
Hoochie [10]

The early mapmakers really had it very hard to create a proper map, as they didn't had any of the modern technology that nowadays we do. They had to rely on their orientation in the space, be able to properly adjust the distances, using only their eyes and brains. Also, they were putting into the maps areas that were told and described by them by people that were there, but they personally haven't even seen the place. The knowledge they had about the size of the world was very limited, as they were not really able to travel that much during their lifetime.

Their interpretation is usually relatively good and relatively accurate considering the circumstances. Of course there were some misjudged distances and proportions, but not by far. Since they only new so much of the world, they usually were making the map, thus the size of the world, from the eastern most location they new, to the westernmost location they new, either putting straight lines like that is the end of the world, or putting waters to mark the same.
