What is the art?

Art is a form of human expression that is characterized by transmitting a message through various resources such as:

• Plastic resources (paintings, sculptures ...)
• Linguistic resources
• Sound resources
• Among others

In the case of plastic resources there are 8 principles to classify them, which are:

• Balance: This principle refers to the visual balance that artists capture in their works through lines, shapes or color.
• Contrast: This principle refers to a way of creating a feeling of excitement and interest in works of art through colors such as black and white, texture (such as rough and smooth), or lines and shapes.
• Emphasis: This principle refers to the intention that artists put so that certain parts of their work of art stand out and attract the attention of the viewer in an obvious way.
• Harmony: This principle refers to the ability of the artist to create a piece that gives the feeling that all the elements that make up the work complement each other and work together.
• Movement: This principle refers to the ability of artists to use colors, shapes and techniques to create the sensation of movement in their works.
• Repetition, rhythm and pattern: This principle refers to the technique that artists have to establish a pattern of repetition of forms to attract the attention of the spectators.
• Proportion and scale: This principle refers to the ability of artists to establish forms, buildings, bodies, objects and others in such a way that everything works together as a unit. On the other hand, it also refers to the general size of the work.
• Variation: This principle refers to the innovative capacity so that one work is not visibly the same as another. It can also be used to draw attention to a particular element within a work.

In accordance with the above, the images presented can be classified according to the following principles:

• Image 1: Repetition, rhythm and pattern
• Image 2: Proportion and scales, emphasis and contrast.
• Image 3: Repetition, contrast and harmony.
• Image 4: Harmony and movement.
