The main debate between the northern and southern states was about the representation of the congress party in the parliament. The compromise was done by forming a dual system of representation in the parliament.

The debates between the two states were regarding various topics, but the main topic was about parliamentary affairs and also the slavery abolition traits.

They were basically debating about the topic that the congress should be given with the particular legal rights, bill of rights in the parliament. Slavery should be abolished to enhance freedom and also establish democracy in the constitution.

This debate was compromised by creating the dual system in the parliament that is the upper house of the parliament, The Rajya sabha, and the Lok sabha that is the lower house of the parliament.
