Politically, both Egypt and Mesopotamia had a government with one main ruler, but Egypt had a centralized government with a pharaoh, while Mesopotamia had a decentralized government with a king. Socially, both civilizations were patriarchal, but Egypt was more lenient towards women while Mesopotamia was stricter. Mesopotamia and Indus river aren't that far apart! Mesopotamia created the first writing system. While Indus River Valley we don't know if they had one. Both were surround by deserts,rivers, and they were both highly agricultural. Both were very productive with their populations ( people wise). Unlike Mesopotamia and Ancient Egypt, the inhabitants of the Indus Valley Civilization did not build large, monumental structures. There is no conclusive evidence of palaces or temples—or even of kings, armies, or priests—and the largest structures may be granaries. The Egyptian civilization flourished around the Nile river whereas, the Indus valley civilization flourished around the river Indus.The artists of the Egyptian civilization built temples, pyramids and extensive statues of Gods and Kings.

Between 1607 and 1692, the rise in use of slaves as a form of labor shows that there was no socio economic mobility in the American colonies. Slavery developed gradually over this period but become extremely prevelant after Bacon's Rebellion (1676). This system of slavery ensured that enslaved Africans had no legal rights, were considered property, and could not earn wages. No matter how hard these individuals worked, they were still considered property and earned no money for their production. This is a perfect example of the lack of socio economic mobility in the colonies during the 17th century.
