The Chytridiomycota is the oldest phylum of kingdom fungi. It is also called chytrids. Members of this phylum have motile spores. Each spore has one whiplash flagellum at the posterior end.  Chytrids can live as parasite algae species to large plants and microscopic worms to amphibians.  The disease caused by the chytrid <em>Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis</em> killing large number of frogs. The symbiotic chytrids in the cows help in breaking down of plant material in their gut during digestion.
