He had in his hand a heavy cane, with which he was trifling; but he answered never a word, and seemed to listen with an ill-cont

ained impatience. And then all of a sudden he broke out in a great flame of anger, stamping with his foot, brandishing the cane, and carrying on (as the maid described it) like a madman. The old gentleman took a step back, with the air of one very much surprised and a trifle hurt; and at that Mr. Hyde broke out of all bounds and clubbed him to the earth. –The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Robert Louis Stevenson How does the conflict in this passage help develop the plot? Carew’s murder compels Dr. Jekyll to immediately explain why Mr. Hyde is his heir. Carew’s murder gives Mr. Utterson the opportunity to search Mr. Hyde’s house and learn more about him. Carew’s murder convinces Mr. Utterson to end his friendship with Mr. Hyde. Carew’s murder causes Mr. Hyde to turn himself in to the police and reveal that he was blackmailing Dr. Jekyll.

Explanation: in a text, a main idea is important information that tells more about the overall idea of a paragraph or section of a text. In the given excerpt from "The City Without Us” by Alan Weisman we can see the description of how the salt used on the roadways on winter, is very corrosive because it eats steel, and it also says that with no people, there won't be salt, but there will be rust which is also corrosive. This is the question I was answering:
Elan Coil [88]

In both Miracles and in Just, both poets use images such as "wade with naked feet along the beach just in the edge of the water" it gives you an image of an older woman/man/girl/boy wading in the edge of the water and then it also lets you taste the moist air around you and gives you a since of comfort. and in the other poem it talks about spring. you can imagine it and feel the cold spring air and see the leaves dropping. but it also makes you wonder if the person talking about it is sane because he doesnt sound reliable when he is using words such as wee it also makes you question if the balloon man is playing jump rope and hopscotch since the poem seems more about the balloon man. when it says piracies also gives it a since of spookiness you could say but overall thats just an example of how you can see feel and taste what he is writing about
