My personal opinion is that this part pf the poem is about war. It mentions soldiers, and deputies and also mentions “America singing” Sometimes when soldiers went to war they would sing the national anthem and other american tunes while marching to battle.

This quote to me means that we should accept people how they are, and not try to change them to our benefit, but instead adapt to how they are. I think the author put in this quote because he wanted to tell use how Mars may be different, but we should still accept it, and deal with it, not change it to fit our needs.
