Well, we cannot possibly know since you haven't written this excerpt here, but assonance is the repetition of the same vowel (a, e, i, o, u) throughout one or several lines, so you can see for yourself what the correct answer is. :)

I assume that the correct answer is D. numbers.
This is because numbers are written graphically different from letters and words, which makes them clearly visible almost immediately. When you scan a text, you won't pay a lot of attention to a bunch of words, but numbers will stick out instantly.
