Photosynthesis occurs in autotrophs such as green plants. It completed in two phases, light reactions and dark reactions. Light reactions are the light- dependent and dark reactions are the light-independent stage. During light reactions, green plants produce ATP and NADPH using solar energy.  During dark reactions products of light reactions such as ATP and NADPH are used  to fix carbon dioxide into sugar molecule. The dark reactions occur in the stroma of a chloroplast.
