Doppler weather radars can detect the motion of a storm and its direction using radar technology. The technology can also determine the intensity of the precipitation and therefore significant in determining the structure of the storm. Doppler weather radars are usually integrated with warning systems to caution people of impending severe storms. This gives people time to evacuate from areas in the path of the storm.
