Answer:

it was only a temporary solution to the argument between “free” and “slave” states

Explanation:

The Three-Fifths Compromise was an agreement that determined that every enslaved American would count as 3/5 of a person for taxation and representation in the Legislative. The compromise solved a problem between anti-slaves and pro-slave states for a short time. The Anti-Slave states argued that if slaves were not considered people and citizens they could not count as the population to representation and taxation matters, this opinion would hurt the slave's states, which had a big population of slaves. So the agreement was reached. The Compromise was a temporary solution because later, came the civil war which forced the 13th and 14th Amendments to pass, the 14th Amendment officially repealed the Compromise.

Alexander is training for a bike race. How can he make sure he always trains at the same speed of 20 miles per hour? Check all t
satela [25.4K]

Answer:

20 miles an hour is a slope of 20 on the miles versus hours graph.

Graph equivalent ratios following a pattern of moving right 1 and up 2 from the original point.

There's no grid shown.  Assuming the ticks are 1 each on x and y, right one up two gives a slope of 2, not 20; check that it doesn't say "up 20".  If it does check it, as written don't.

Draw a line from the origin that connects all the points.

Is this one of the checkables?  If so CHECK ME.  The line will have a constant slope of 20 mph.

Every point on the line is an equivalent ratio.

CHECK ME.  Is this different than the last one?  Yes, each point on the line has a constant ratio, it's 20 miles per hour.

As the line goes up, the speed increases.

The speed is the slope of the line.   As we go along a line with constant slope, the speed doesn't change.   Don't check.

Alexander can pick any ratio of miles per hour on the line and he will be biking at 20 mph.

Any pair (h,m) on the line through (0,0) and (1,20) will always have m/h=20mph.  He can't really pick any ratio; it's always equivalent to 20mph.  But as long as he picks from this line he'll be biking at 20mph, so let's

Which incident in Somalia caused President Clinton to withdraw U.S. troops from the country?
dybincka [34]

Answer:

Actually, the most significant o challenges came on October 3, 1993. Aideed’s forces shot down two Black Hawk helicopters in a battle which lead to the deaths of 18 U.S. soldiers and hundreds of Somalis. The deaths turned the tide of public opinion in the United States. President Bill Clinton pulled U.S. troops out of combat four days later, and all U.S. troops left the country in March 1994. The United Nations withdrew from Somalia in March 1995. Fighting continued in the country.  At the same time the Somalia crisis was unfolding, President Clinton ordered the national security bureaucracy to consider how and when the United States should become involved in peacekeeping operations. The resulting document was Presidential Decision Directive 25, issued on May 3, 1994. The Directive outlined a series of factors which the national security bureaucracy must consider before involving the United States in peacekeeping: eight factors which must be weighed before deciding in favor of peacekeeping in the United Nations, and nine additional factors before becoming involved in a Chapter VII action.
