Answer:

I'd go with 1 or 3

Explanation:

They both sound correct, in 1 she/he is reflecting and now speaking about what she learnt about making the cake. Whilst in 3 she is reflecting and acknowledging that she went through challenges. So 3 talks more about what the question is asking. Sorry if I'm wrong-

The North was on the verge of victory prior to Lincoln’s 2nd Inaugural address. He chooses words and analogies that are humble;
erastova [34]

Lincoln would have preferred to avoid blaming either side, that is, the Southern slavocracy and anti-African prejudice that attributed the Civil War because of his humility and desire to help both the victor and the defeated move past previous evils and wrongdoings.

 • On Saturday, March 4, 1865, during his second inauguration as President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln gave his second inaugural speech.
 • Lincoln spoke of melancholy rather than happiness at a time when the American Civil War's victory against secessionists was just days away and slavery in the entire country was about to come to an end.
 • Some see this speech as a defence of his pragmatic approach to Reconstruction, in which he wanted to avoid treating the defeated rebels harshly by pointing out to his audience how both sides had miscalculated what lied ahead of them when the conflict started four years prior.
 • Lincoln nevertheless struck a balance by acknowledging the glaring injustice of slavery in addition to his rejection of triumphalism.

To what extent has the child's role evolved in today's family structure?
Gnesinka [82]

Modernity has changed the role of the child in the family structure.

In earlier days, a child was an investment for the family. Children were there to take care of their parents in their old age. Boys were supposed to fight and bring money home, girls were expected to help in the household and to marry well later in life. The family structure depended on them for survival and that's why families used to have many children, There was also a strong sense of honoring and obedience towards one's parents. They were seen an the absolute authority and disobedience was frown upon and even punished.

Nowadays, our culture has removed the most functional demands kids have to the family. The children are still seen as an investment but in a way that elevates the parents' prestige and not in the materialistic sense. Parents provide education for their kids so that the kids can get a good job, take care of themselves and live independently as adults. In many families, parents do not expect their children to look after them in old age. Children today have far more rights and fewer obligations as before, as their upbringing is centered on providing for their needs first. Therefore, many children today feel entitled to play a leading role in the family, demanding full attention of their parents. Disobedience is often not punished and misbehavior tolerated.

Explain how this paragraph fits into the larger structure of Thoreau’s essay. Then, evaluate the effectiveness of the introducti
RSB [31]

Answer: This paragraph fits into the larger structure of Thoreau’s essay since it is the introduction paragraph and provides his claims as well as what he believes in his arguments to support the overall essay. The effectiveness of how clear, convincing, and engaging the introduction is is very effective since Thoreau is listing logical reasons, claims, and his arguments in order to let the reader know what to expect as well as what he will demonstrate in the essay. In the introduction paragraph, Thoreau states that “Government is at best but an expedient; but most governments are usually, and all against a standing army, and they are many and weighty, and deserve to prevail, may also at last be brought against a standing government…”. Here he states his opening evidence to support his claims and argument.
