the invention of the movable type was an incredibly big deal as it allowed for more materials to be printed and faster

<u>Reformation:</u>

challenges to the authority of the pope

protestants believed that authority and truth lay only in the scripture

religious wars

decentralization of HRE due to the Peace of Augsburg

the renaissance was a cultural movement. it changed the culture of europe. not so much religion or politics (someone pls correct me if im wrong on this)

the reformation impacted religion most. created religious divide and rivalry between catholics and protestants. a political effect of the ref was the decentralization of the HRE.

both periods were respectively a time of progress... i say this because society is always progressing and building on top of past generations. if the reformation or renaissance hadn't occurred, our society today would likely be very different. they were both definitely very influencial and important movements
