Read the following sentences :

• Lisa met jennie in the garden . Micheal invited jennie to a coffee. Jennie agreed. Michael brought jennie home . Michael and jennie took coffee .

• Michael met jennie in the garden . He invited her to coffee. She agreed. He brought her home . They took coffee .

The words he , she and they in the second sentence are used in place of nouns - Michael, jennie . Such words are called pronouns .
