Answer:

In the U.S, Fridays that are on the eve of three-day weekends tend to be especially good. Due to generally positive feelings prior to a long holiday weekend, the stock markets tend to rise ahead of these observed holidays.

“Friday is the best day to sell” is already marginalised in the Investopedia article dedicated to it[1] .

The assumption “if everyone is selling” cannot be true, when there are only people willing to sell there is no trade, and with that no price.

It same assumption also includes a notion that there are fewer parties that are willing to hold over the weekend than there are willing to sell. In other words: it implies there are more short term traders than long term traders and (buy and hold) investors.

ABC Company issues 10%, 15-year bonds with a par value of $280,000 and semiannual interest payments. On the issue date, the annu
Sloan [31]

Answer and Explanation:

1. The computation of issuer's cash proceeds is shown below:-

Cash proceeds = Par value × Selling price

= $280,000 × 117.25%

= $328,300

2. The computation of total amount of bond interest expense is shown below:-

30 payment of $14,000 = $420,000

Semi-annual interest payment = Par value × Issued percentage ÷ 2

= $280,000 × 10% ÷ 2

= $14,000

Total repayment = $420,000 + $280,000

= $700,000

Total bond interest expense = Total repayment - amount borrowed

= $700,000 - $328,300

= $371,700

3. The computation of the amount of bond interest expense is shown below:-

Amount of bond interest expense = Semi-annual interest payment + Discount amortization

= $14,000 + ($280,000 - $328,300) ÷ 30

= $14,000 -$1,610

= $12,390

Since it is semi annual so we half the rate and doubles the time period

The statement of retained earnings or the statement of stockholders' equity reconciles the net income, dividends paid, and the c
sdas [7]

Answer:

1.

Option B is the correct answer.

2.

Dividends Paid = $55 million. Thus, option C is the correct answer.

Explanation:

1.

The statement about shareholders' equity given in option A that it is the difference between the paid-in capital and retained earnings is incorrect as the retained earnings are a part of the equity of shareholders and are included in the calculation of shareholders' equity. Thus, option B is the correct answer.

2.

The Net Income earned by a company is usually treated in two ways. It is either paid out as dividends to the shareholders or is retained in the business and transferred to the retained earnings account or both. Thus, we can calculate the amount of dividends paid by the following equation.

Closing balance of retained earnings = Opening balance of retained earnings  +  Net Income for the period  -  Dividends Paid

700  =  595  +  160  -  Dividends Paid

700 + Dividends Paid =  755

Dividends Paid = 755 - 700

Dividends Paid = $55 million
