This assignment has three parts. For the first part, you’ll examine a map of a particular city, Augusta, Georgia, identifying ho

w its local performing arts center(s) can help boost its economy. For the second part, you’ll take a look at a map of your own area, identifying the same thing. For the final part, you’ll share your findings with a parent or other adult, and get some input from them (see below). Part 1: One City Examine the map of Augusta, GA below. Identify one type of theater (stage or screen) on the map, as well as three different business that likely benefit from its being there. Ideally, try to find businesses of different types (i.e., not all restaurants, etc.). Part 2: Your City Now use your phone or computer to find a stage or screen theater near your own home. Depending where you live, you may have to widen the search radius to find the nearest one. You’ll now identify both that theater and three businesses (again, preferably of different types) in its vicinity that likely benefit. Part 3: Your Findings Finally, talk to a parent or another adult, and share with them your findings regarding these two cities. Then, ask them about a time when they know they’ve helped support other businesses because of attending a movie, play, or something similar. If possible, see if you can learn from them about an area different from the one you talked about. To do so, you might consider calling a relative who lives in another city or state.
