What is ragtime? how is it related to jazz?
Kruka [31]
Ragtime is usually defined as a song that is in 2/4 time or 4/4 time people usually get it confused with 3/4 time however that is considered a ragtime waltz. Ragtime is used by taking the base line and using progressive harmonic chords that may be punch or silent while the melody is carried out through the Alto,Soprano lines as it uses syncopation which makes the song being played off beat and unexpected. It's related to jazz by the fact that Jazz itself rather replaced Ragtime due to the rising amount of bands that added a unique style to the ragtime with a 70+ BPM and usually included it in many records.

In the above painting, what message was the artist, Antoine-Jean Gros, trying to spread?
katovenus [111]
The answer is a. He intended to portray Napoleon as a compassionate and giving leader, who was not afraid to be among the sick and poor. The name of the painting is Napoleon visiting the plague-stricken at Jaffa. It shows a scene in Jaffa in 1799 when Napoleon visited sick soldiers. His visit should reflect him as a brave man, not afraid to be among the sick and the poor. However, the painting was an attempt to suppress the rumours that he ordered the death of dying plague victims.

Matthew Barney, considered by Stephen Holden of the NY Times to be "the most important artist of his generation," is best known
slega [8]

Answer:

Films

Explanation:

Matthew Barney’s epic Cremaster cycle (1994–2002) is a self-enclosed aesthetic system consisting of five feature-length films that explore processes of creation. The cycle unfolds not just cinematically, but also through the photographs, drawings, sculptures, and installations the artist produces in conjunction with each episode. Its conceptual departure point is the male cremaster muscle, which controls testicular contractions in response to external stimuli. The project is rife with anatomical allusions to the position of the reproductive organs during the embryonic process of sexual differentiation: Cremaster 1 represents the most “ascended” or undifferentiated state, Cremaster 5 the most “descended” or differentiated. The cycle repeatedly returns to those moments during early sexual development in which the outcome of the process is still unknown—in Barney’s metaphoric universe, these moments represent a condition of pure potentiality.
