Your paragraph due this week is to be inspired by one of the three reading selections assigned in Chapter 14 of Common Ground (p

p. 273–278).
"Escaping the Fact-Filled World"

"Why I'm a Gamer"

"With Fantasy, Opportunities are Endless"

Often, the hardest part of starting any writing project is deciding what we want to write about. Let's begin this week's discussion by sharing our impressions of these three readings with a goal that further conversation will help us determine the best approach for our own paragraph. Of the three reading selections, which one did you find yourself relating to more closely? Did any of them inspire your own memories or experiences of a fantasy activity?

In your first post, please do the following two things.

1) Explain which reading triggered your memory or experience of a fantasy activity and what was the activity you thought of. It may be one mentioned in the readings or not, and it could include video games, fantasy novels, escape rooms, historical reenactments or fantasy football, to name a few. (If you do not relate to any fantasy activity, you may identify and describe a leisure activity of your choice.)

2) List three or four reasons why you think the activity is popular.

The above question requires a personal answer. In that case, I can't write an answer for you, but I'll show you how to do it.

First, you must remember an activity that allowed you to experience a fantasy world, that is, a world outside of reality. You may have had this experience with a video game, a book, and even a movie.

Remember what made this experience satisfying and why the media responsible for this experience are popular and effective.

Steps to writing your answer:

 • Present the experience you had and which media was responsible for it.
 • Show the main characteristics of this media.
 • Show how this media can present a mysterious world.
 • Show what makes this media attractive and popular so that others have similar experiences.

fgiga [73]

Answer:

Virginia law and the government seems to take the slave as a responsible, intelligent human, while other states might not think so. The assumptions made by Virginia law about African Americans is that they should be punished for any crime they commit, likely they will get the death sentence.
