Explain why an incident like the Salem witch trials could not happen in the U.S. today?

➪ An incident like salem witch trials could not happen in the US today because according to Amendment 1 Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. So, The government cannot interfere in the religious and superstitious things like this. Also nowadays the people do not believe in such things. These are the reasons that an incident like salem witch trials could not happen again...~
