How does the manufacturing output of the United States compare to that of India/Pakistan from 1800 to 1900?
Grace [21]
Years after the Civil War, the United States was known as an Industrial giant. During these years, old industries in the US have expanded, while other industries, like petroleum, refining, steel manufacturing and electrical power have emerged. By 1900, the United States was considered the leading industrial power in the world, with manufacturing outputs that exceeded three of its largest rivals: Great Britain, France and Germany.

On the other hand, India's share in the world economy went down from 24.4% in 1700 to only 4.2% in 1950.  Moreover, the country's share to the global industry has also gone down from 25% in 1750 to 2% in 1900.

Economic historians blamed the colonial rule that has resulted in the decline of the manufacturing output of India.

Meanwhile, Pakistan has emerged as a semi-industrialized country following its independence in 1947. This is due to the textiles, agriculture and food production that have surge towards technological diversification.
