Let

10years ago

  • Daughter's age=x
  • Father's age=6x

10years after

  • Daughter's age=x+20
  • Father's age=6x+20

ATQ

\\ \tt\hookrightarrow 6x+20=2(x+20)

\\ \tt\hookrightarrow 6x+20=2x+40

\\ \tt\hookrightarrow 4x=20

\\ \tt\hookrightarrow x=5

  • Father's present age=6x+10=6(5)+10=30+10=40yrs
  • Daughter's present age=x+10=5+10=15yrs

<h3><u>Answer</u><u> </u><u>:</u><u>-</u><u> </u></h3>

  • 15 years

<h3><u>Solution</u><u> </u><u>:</u><u>-</u></h3>

▪︎If ten years ago , the age of daughter was x years , then , ten years ago the age of her father was 6x years ▪︎

  • Present age of father = ( 6x + 10 ) years
  • Present age of the daughter = ( x + 10 ) years

Ten years after ,

  • Father's age = ( 6x + 10 + 10 ) years
  • => ( 6x + 20 ) years

  • Daughter's age = ( x + 10 + 10 ) years
  • => ( x + 20 ) years

According to the question,

▪︎6x + 20 = 2 ( x + 20 )

  • 6x + 20 =! 2x + 40
  • 6x - 2x = 40 - 40
  • 4x = 20
  • x = 5

Therefore , Present age of the Father = 6x + 10 = 6 × 5 + 10 = 40 years and present age of the daughter,

  • x + 10 = 5 + 10 = 15 years

hence , the age of his daughter is 15 years

Please explain the misleading
Ede4ka [16]

There are more compact cars (4*10 = 40) compared to trucks (2*10 = 20); however, the pictogram might make it appear that there are more trucks because the individual truck icon is larger compared to an individual compact car icon.

To anyone giving this image a quick glance, they may erroneously conclude that there are more trucks since their eye would notice the trucks first. Also, the person might think there are more trucks because bigger sizes tend to correspond to more proportion.

In real life, a truck is larger than a compact car, but the icons need to be the same size to have the figure not be misleading.

A very similar issue happens with the mid-size cars vs the compact cars as well. The three mid-size car icons span the same total width as the compact cars do, indicating that a reader might mistakenly conclude that there are the same number of mid-size cars compared to compact ones (when that's not true either).

Vicky jogged 4 1/2 miles in 7/8 hour. What was her average rate of speed in miles per hour?
Katarina [22]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Vicky  jogged 4 1/2 miles or 9/2 miles  or 4.5 miles

7/8 of 60 min=(7*60)/8=(7*15)/2= 52.50 min

4.5 miles....................52.50 min

? miles.......................60 min

vicky will have a rate of 5.14 miles/hour

A random sample of 144 observations has a mean of 20, a median of 21, and a mode of 22. The population standard deviation is kno
fomenos

Answer: a. 19.200 to 20.800

Step-by-step explanation:

Formula to find the confidence interval(\mu) :-

\overline{x}\pm z_{\alpha/2}\dfrac{\sigma}{\sqrt{n}}

, where n is the sample size

\sigma = Population standard deviation.

\overline{x}= Sample mean

z_{\alpha/2} = Two tailed z-value for significance level of \alpha.

Given : Confidence level = 95.44% = 0.9544

Significance level = \alpha=1-0.9544=0.0456

Using standard normal z-value table ,

Two tailed z-value for Significance level of 0.0456 :

z_{\alpha/2}=z_{0.0228}=1.999\approx2

Also,

n=144

\sigma= 4.8

\overline{x}=20

Then, the required 95.44% confidence interval for the population mean :-

20\pm (2)\dfrac{4.8}{\sqrt{144}}\\\\ =20\pm (0.800)\\\\=(20-0.800,\ 20+0.800)=(19.200,\ 20.800)

Hence, the 95.44% confidence interval for the population mean is <u>19.200 to 20.800</u>.

A cylinder has a volume of approximately 565 cubic inches. Which of the following best describes the dimensions of the cylinder
rusak2 [61]

Answer:

C

Step-by-step explanation:

Try each one using the formula for the volume of a cylinder, pi * r^2 * h:

A. 3.14 * 12^2 * 5 = about 2261 which does not equal 565

B. 3.14 * 10^2 * 4 = about 1256 which does not equal 565

C. 3.14 * 6^2 * 5 = about 565 which is correct!

D. 3.14 * 6^2 * 10 = about 1130 which does not equal 565

Therefore C is the right answer.
