A series of laws restricted who blacks could marry, where they could travel, and whether or not they could be employed. What wer
Vanyuwa [196]

This series of laws was called the Black Codes.

Most Black Codes were passed in 1865-66 in Southern states to control the conduct of newly-freed African Americans after the Civil War.

Depending on the state, they established rules regarding:

  • the legitimacy of black people's jobs (if their work was not recognized by whites, they could be considered criminal vagrants),
  • their right to own property (like land) or businesses,
  • their movement through public spaces,
  • their right to carry weapons,
  • their right to marry or live with whites, etc.

What is the difference between state and federal governments?
AleksAgata [21]
Federal government includes all 50 states while state government only includes the state. The state makes its own laws and has its own governor, mayors, etc. Federal follows the basis of the constitution.

How did columbus travels affect natives living in the americas?
scZoUnD [109]
Columbus travel had affected the Native Americans living in a few ways. You could look at it from two different perspectives. Whether that be that it A: benefited the Natives or B: hurt their culture.

Going through with the benefiting... We could say that Columbus had brought new technology and skills that the Natives had never seen or used before. This could have benefited their lives and allow them to progress and further themselves.

At the same time, people could disagree with that and say that Columbus had hurt the Natives culture and way of life when he had came over. Many people would say that he disrupted the Natives way of life and in a sense had forced said life onto them even when some of them didn't want it. He had also basically took their land. As I said above, it's all about perspective and how you view it.
