Using it's concept, it is found that there is a 0.624 probability that the employee is not late for work.

What is a probability?

A probability is given by the number of desired outcomes divided by the number of total outcomes.

Researching in the internet, it is found that the probability that the employee is stopped at any of the traffic lights is as follows:

 • Traffic light A: 0.8.
 • Traffic light B: 0.1.
 • Traffic light C: 0.4.

He will be late if he is stopped at more than 1 traffic light, as he plans to arrive 2 minutes early and each stop takes 2 minutes.

Hence, the probability that he is stopped in at most one light is given by:

p = 0.2(0.9)(0.6) + 0.8(0.9)(0.6) + 0.2(0.1)(0.6) + 0.2(0.9)(0.4) = 0.624

0.624 probability that the employee is not late for work.

A packing machine at a factory can fill 50 containers of oatmeal every minute. All of the containers filled to the top by this m
vagabundo [1.1K]

The time taken for the machine to fill 825 containers is 16.5 minutes.

What is time?

Time can be defined as the measurable period during which actions, processes, events, or conditions exist. The S.I unit of time is Seconds (s)

To calculate the time taken for the machine to fill 825 containers of oatmeal, we use the formula below.

Formula:

 • R = C/t.................. Equation 1

Where:

 • R = Number container filled by the machine in one minute.
 • C = Total number of containers
 • t = time taken the container

Make t the subject of the equation

 • t = C/R............... Equation 2

From the question,

Given:

 • C = 825 container of oatmeal
 • R = 50 containers of oatmeal per minute

Substitute the values above into equation 2

 • t = 825/50
 • t = 16.5 minutes.

Hence, the time taken for the machine to fill 825 containers is 16.5 minutes.
