You should never put up fences between yourself and other people. (unless their bad people)

Explanation:

If you don't start tearing down your personal fences soon people around you will stop trying to get to you, and then when you finally do tear them down no one will want to interact with you because they fear you will shut them out again. Hope this helps with whatever's going on.  : )
