The complications that may arise is that the mother will produce antibodies against the Rh proteins on the surface of the baby's blood cells as foreign leading to a still birth.

The doctor can give Rh immune-globulin shots during her first pregnancy.

Rhesus compatibility

Rhesus factors are proteins that are found on the red blood cells. The individuals that have rhesus proteins are rhesus positive while those that lack the protein are rhesus negative.

Rhesus incompatibility occurs when there is combination of rhesus negative and rhesus positive blood as seen in a mother that is rhesus negative carrying a Rhesus positive child.

Rachel is a mother with Rh-negative blood, during her second child, the blood of the mother my mix with the child, complications that may arise is that the mother will produce antibodies against the Rh proteins on the surface of the baby's blood cells as foreign leading to a still birth.

To avoid the complications from occurring, a rhesus negative mother should be given Rh immune-globulin shots during her first pregnancy.

Intrapulmonary pressure in the ________.
Readme [11.4K]

Answer:

The correct answer is option B- pressure within the alveoli.

Explanation:

Intrapulmonary pressure is the pressure within the lungs especially in the alveoli of the lungs so is also known as "intra-alveolar pressure".

This pressure helps in the breathing process as :

1. During inspiration - The thoracic cavity volume increases due to which the intra-pulmonary pressure becomes less than the atmospheric pressure which causes the lungs to inhale about 500 ml of air.

2. During expiration- the thoracic volume decreases which cause the intra-pulmonary pressure larger than atmospheric pressure which causes the lungs to exhale the air.

Thus, option B- pressure within the alveoli is the correct answer.
