What is one method of destroying factions that Madison rejects, even though he says it would work?
Andrej [43]

Letter A is the correct answer.

Madison knew factions were inevitable and needed to be controlled. Even though Madison knew that destroying people's ability to form factions was a method that would work, he did NOT find it acceptable. He rejected it because he believed it would take away their liberty, and liberty was essential. Madison believed that controlling the effects was the best alternative to the problem.

The word defy and unequal in a sentence
katen-ka-za [31]

When utilizing words within a sentence, we must first recognize two things: their definition and the ways that they can be used. As such, when we have these elements, we can generate sentences that not only use them correctly, but through these sentences we can further understand the meaning of the words through context. Defy, as per the dictionary, means to disobey an order, or challenge someone or something and unequal means not being able, or not having the resources, to deal with someone or a situation, or also, a variation in size, shape or other characteristics that make two things differ and one be superior to the other.

As such, a good sentence to combine these two words could be thus: We have always been unequal to the task of dealing with corrupt people because we fear to defy those who we perceive have power and control over us.

Read the following thesis statement that compares two texts.
mr_godi [17]
The answer is A. Kotowski cites four scholars who specialize in the study of volcanoes, whereas Ferguson cites only the encyclopedia.

The given thesis is arguing that Kotowski is more reliable than Ferguson because he backs up his statements with a greater number of more reliable sources. In choice A, Kotowski is not only using three more sources than Ferguson, but they're sources from reputable specialists, making them higher quality sources as well.

If you're still confused, you can use elimination to rule out the others:

B. B doesn't work because there's no mention of the rate of volcanic change in the thesis. Although the statement may be true, it's not evidence to support the writer's claim.

C. C doesn't work because there's no mention of the frequency of volcanic eruption in the thesis. Again, although the statement may be true, it doesn't necessarily support the writer's claim.

D. D doesn't work because there's no mention of the similarities between the two pieces. If the thesis is arguing that Kotowski's work is different from Ferguson's because it's more reliable, it'd be counterproductive for the writer to mention the similarities of the work. Therefore, this "evidence" has no relation to the thesis and would not support the author's thesis.

Hope this helps!
