Childhood: Was born to a poor family in Predappio, a town located in northeastern Italy. His father was a blacksmith and his mother was a Catholic schoolteacher.

Summary of Mussolini: Benito Mussolini was a former prime minister of Italy who became the fascist dictator of Italy. He ruled the country from 1925-1945. He formed the National Fascist Party, receiving support from many unemployed war veterans. He dismantled the 'institutions of democratic government', and became the dictator. His goal for Italy was to re-establish it as a great European power.

Leadership: Under his leadership, groups of militants massacred Italians. He oversaw brutality in Ethiopia, had an alliance with Adolf Hitler, and persecuted the Jewish population of Italy, among other crimes.

Execution: On April 28, 1945, he and his mistress, Clara Petacci were shot by Italian partisans who captured them as they attempted to flee to Switzerland.
