I look out to my side

watching the foliage blur past

when the flurry of motion became too much

I looked up ahead and fixed my gaze upon a particular tree

watching it slowly come forward then streak past and gradually recede behind

was life like that you could look ahead to the future or back at the past

but the present moved too quickly to absorb.
